Goumenissa 2011, Tatsis

Date Tasted: 2/2021

Through this blog, I have shared my love several times for Goumenissa's blend wines and particularly for this one. The magnum bottle helped this ten years old beauty to stay in a perfect performance. It never disappoints me.

Appearance: The colour is deep ruby, with no sign of age.

Nose: It has a pronounced aromatic intensity and is extremely complex. Imagine that you are starting a walk in the forest with the ripe berries hung up on the trees, then passing through an east spice market and finishing in a barbeque yard. Now you get the idea.

Palate: It is dry, velvety, and everything are maxed out but with exceptional balance. The flavours follow the same path as these on the nose put just some tomato notes and the endless aftertaste.

Drink or Hold: It is perfect now but has several years in front in case you hold many bottles.

Food Pairing: Almost every dish based on meat and tomato sauce is a good idea for a much pairing.
