Goumenissa 2012, Tatsis

Date Tasted: 10/2020

If you are looking for some quality Greek wines that offer excellent value for money, then put a check on this. It is unique, unbeatable, and so, so delicious. Tatsis brothers are pioneers in the natural wine sector. And even if their wines, reds mostly, express a wildness Goumenissa is the nobler version.

Appearance: The colour is bright garnet like a shining Ferrari.

Nose: It is complex with many red fruits and layers of spices and earthiness.

Palate: Every sip releases the flavours of raspberry, mushroom and leather, with Tatsis aliveness manifestation. The acidity is medium, the tannins are high between velvety and harsh or both, the body is medium-plus, and the aftertaste is almost long with a raspberry flavour.

Drink or Hold: It is so delicious now that I struggle to find an excuse to keep some bottles in the cellar even if I know well that could become even better after a few years.

Food Pairing: It paired perfectly with a medium-rare T-Bone.
