Riesling St. Remigiusberg 2018, Weingut Tesch

Date Tasted: 4/2021

Sometimes Riesling can be so savoury and delicious. It is not by coincidence that it is one of the greatest, if not the greatest, white grape varieties in the world. Mosel is a famous region, but Nache is Germany’s hidden gem.

Tip: Leave it open for 24 hours, and you will be surprised with the transformation.

Appearance: The colour is a bright and attractive pale lemon.

Nose: It is so charming with crystal purity and layers of minerality, starting with many floral notes, citrus fruit, even apple and grass with some honey and petrol notes just started to develop.

Palate: It is dry, fresh and clean with high acidity and a medium body. The minerality and the lemon character are doing a party on your tongue with a medium-plus aftertaste.

Drink or Hold: It is gratifying now but far away from its best.

Food Pairing: I prepared pasta with colourful peppers, tomato sauce, onions and hot spices, and the result was superb.
