Cuvée Spéciale Extra Brut, Karanika

Cuvée Spéciale Extra Brut, Karanika

Date Tasted: 12/2022

Laurens Hartman is or should be a case study in the Greek wine scene. He came from Holland, tired of the urban way of life and searching for a place he could enjoy life. Who could ever imagine that this place would be the unfriendly Amyndeon? Nevertheless, Amyntaio offered Laurens a relaxed lifestyle and a unique terroir to develop his winery. Laurens understood the region's potential for producing quality sparkling wines from the first moment and focused on crafting the best in Greece. The indisputable quality of his wines, combined with the gap in the Greek market, brought success and, finally, recognition.

Appearance: Pale lemon colour.

Nose: It has a charming nose with a core of citrus fruits like lemon and bitter orange without missing the lively yeasty and floral notes like brioche and spring blossoms.

Palate: The consistency and continuous mousse catch the eye. It is light and wonderful, balanced with grace yet power. The high acidity is fully integrated and has a core of lemon zest and cookie notes that fades slowly into the almost long aftertaste.

Drink: It is perfect.

Food Pairing: Fried sardines.
