Evnia 2019, Haralabakis Winery

Evnia 2019, Haralabakis Winery

Date Tasted: 11/2022

Vidiano is a challenging grape. It is very productive, and the yields must be kept low in favour of quality. But once it succeeds in the vineyard, the unique variety's attributes emerge. It gives full-bodied wines with intense flavours of stone fruits and notable refreshing acidity. Usually, there is a level of barrel influence, but only sometimes.

Appearance: Deep lemon colour.

Nose: The barrel influence is quite strong and is framed by stone fruits such as apricot and nectarine.

Palate: It is full-bodied with high acidity and nice balance. It seems over-oaked initially, but as the wine breaths, it becomes more approachable. The flavours of vanilla, coconut and cumin are pronounced and surrounded by peach and melon. The aftertaste is sweet and long.

Drink or Hold: It is pleasant now and can evolve for the next five years.

Food Pairing: Grilled pork chops.
