Malbec 2020, Terrazas de los Andes

Malbec 2020, Terrazas de los Andes

Date Tasted: 12/2022

Malbec is a dark skin grape that initially comes from Bordeaux. But its significant commercial and notable success happened in Argentina and expanded worldwide. Although Malbec is still a principal grape for some appellations in West France, like Cahors, for example, Argentina holds the largest planted area, more than half of its hectares of planted vines, making Malbec an Argentinian thing.

Appearance: Deep, bright purple colour.

Nose: It is intense and pleasant, perfumed with perfectly ripe dark fruits like blackcurrant and blueberry layered with tomato leaf, dill, cumin and coconut.

Palate: It is full-bodied with high, gentle tannins and exceptional balance. The acidity is medium-plus and has a core of juicy dark fruit flavours. It is concentrated but not overpowered and has a delicious, medium-length aftertaste.

Drink or Hold: It is cheery now and can evolve for the next five years.

Food Pairing: Blue cheese Burger.
