Anthonij Rupert Cellar is a prestigious winery located in South Africa. The estate is situated in the Franschhoek Valley, which is renowned for its picturesque beauty and excellent wine production. The winery is named after the late Dr Anton Rupert, a respected South African entrepreneur and philanthropist.

Anthonij Rupert Wines produces a range of high-quality wines that showcase the unique terroir of the region. They are committed to sustainable farming practices and the production of premium wines that reflect the character and diversity of their vineyards.

Optima is a Bordeaux-style blend that combines Cabernet Sauvignon, Merlot, and Cabernet Franc. It is known for its depth, structure, and age-worthiness.

Appearance: Deep ruby colour.

Nose: The nose is marvellous, with depth and complexity. It exhibits aromas of ripe red and black berries such as redcurrant, blackcurrant, blackberry, and cassis. These fruity notes are complemented by a lovely layer of spice and some notable medicinal notes.

Palate: The wine is almost full-bodied, with ripe and juicy tannins and refreshing acidity that maintains the balance. You can expect deep flavours of blackcurrant, fennel, dill, redcurrant, chocolate, cumin, and leather on the palate. The finish is intense and juicy.

Drink or Hold: It is recommended to be enjoyed now, but it has the potential to develop further complexity in the next 9 years.

Food Pairing: Flank steaks would be an excellent choice to pair with this wine.
