Terrement Haut-Montravel 2014, Château Puy-Servain

Date Tasted: 5/2020

Harvest by hand in 4 passings when the grapes have developed noble rot.

I bought it from the winery last year while I visited the area. It may not have its neighbours' reputation, such as Sauternes and Monbazillac, but in this price range, it is unbeatable.

Appearance: Deep golden colour.

Nose: Pronounced aromatic intensity with white blossoms, pear drop, grape marmalade, dried apricot and wet wool, distinctive but not very complex for this style.

Palate: More earthy, hay, mushroom and lemon jam all over the mouth. It is medium consecrated with full-body sense. It is sweet, but the high acidity leads to a well-structured balance with a long honey aftertaste.

Drink or Hold: It has aged well yet has many years ahead.

Food Pairing: It paired excellently with spoon sweets.
