Goumenissa 2016, Domaine Chatzivaritis

Date Tasted: 10/2020

I loved this wine from the first moment. It is delicious with amazing mouth-filling, refreshing and ready to enjoy now but without losing its character if it’s rested for ageing. It is a high value for money.

Appearance: Pale ruby colour.

Nose: It is fresh, with red fruits like raspberry, strawberry and red cherry, combined with graphite, spices and mushroom notes.

Palate: It is dry, with excellent balance and silky texture, almost high acidity, medium soft tannins, medium body and a medium to high vanilla-spice finish.

Drink or Hold: Perfect now but with ageing potential for more than a decade.

Food Pairing: Try it with pasta with Mediterranean red sauce, based on tomato, olives, herbs and mushrooms.
