Valpolicella Classico Superiore Sant’Urbano 2018, Speri

Valpolicella Classico Superiore Sant’Urbano 2018, Speri

Date Tasted: 6/2022

The Sant’Urbano vineyard is located on a hill in the municipality of Fumane. It has excellent exposure to the sun at around 300 m altitude with calcareous, clayey soil of volcanic origin, which favours moisture retention, preventing excessive dryness. Valpolicella Classico Superiore Sant'Urbano of Speri is one of the region's best and most typical wines.

Appearance: Pale, shiny garnet colour.

Nose: It is aetherial with lovely floral notes of rose and violet surrounded by mainly red fruits like strawberry, raspberry and cranberry and a delicate Japanese incense note.

Palate: It is ripe yet keeps its freshness with blackcurrant, fig, clove, some herbal notes and graphite. It has high acidity, low tannins, and is medium-bodied with good balance. It is gentle and round with an almost long aftertaste.

Drink: It can age a few years more, but it is delicious now.

Food Pairing: Spicy Pizza.
