Papas 2018, Artemis Karamolegos Winery

Papas 2018, Artemis Karamolegos Winery

Date Tasted: 9/2022

The source of the grapes is a single vineyard with over 150 years old vines in the village of Megalochori, producing a rare and unique fruit. Maturation with the gross lees for 22 months in stainless steel tank and two months in oak tank before bottling. A year of cellaring adds more complexity and layers to this one-of-a-kind wine.

Appearance: Vibrant and bright, pale lemon colour.

Nose: It is austere initially and needs an hour in a carafe to show its true potential. It has a strong mineral core with flint and wet rocks supported by ripe stone fruits and spicy notes like nutmeg and cumin.

Palate: It is structured with high condensation and bold flavouring. The acidity is high, and the aftertaste lasts for minutes.

Hold: It is too early. Keep it for at least four years.

Food Pairing: Iberico steaks on the grill.
